As we work on the Cultspotting project and other investigative posts, we’ve found a lot of information about the COG’s inner workings, its congregational demographics and other organizational data. But we want and need more, all that we can get.

So if you know something, please say something. The more information we have, the more accurate picture we can paint of the COG’s current state of being and how that affects its members. We’ve got a lot of great information already, but we want to verify and add to what we have. It’s all about applying a layer of transparency to these enclosed, secretive cults and challenging their propaganda.

Also, weekly letters from COG pastors and other leaders are valuable information sources to at least compare what the cult tells its congregations with other information we’ve compiled.

Here are some questions we have, some of which we’ve answered and just need to have verified, and others we’ve only just started researching:

How much does the average COG minister make?

How many congregations are there for each COG?

What’s the average size of a COG congregation?

About many members are in each COG group?

About how many WCG splinters still exist?

What are the largest to smallest COG groups?

What are the richest COG groups?

How much in taxes do COG groups pay in spite of their federal tax exemption?

Any information that anyone has is very greatly appreciated, even if it’s just pointing us in the right direction.

Thanks! :D

  1. Much of this information is dated back to 2005 concerning Wade Cox and the so-called Christian Churches of God (wrong on all three counts). Prior to Passover that year, Cox had approximately 95 people total world wide as members and an income of around $110,000 (measured in U.S. currency). All ministers — what there were of them — were all unpaid. He may have had 15 ministers including Regional Directors. His second in command was James Dailley in Canada. There were probably as many as 15 members in Canada.

That all changed in 2005 when Cox disfellowshipped James Dailley rather nastily and publicly for violating the Sabbath with Dailley’s involvment with the world famous African Game Farm in Canada. This was suspicious because up to that point, Dailley was something like the most active and most heavily contributing member. This is speculative, but it may be that James was not as able to shovel the bucks to Cox after a stripper was mauled by a tiger and the subsequent $7 million suit.

It is not clear what the income dropped to.

There is currently one member in Canada.

Members of his own family (in-laws) originally associated with the ccg seem to have left for greener pastures.

There may be 25 members worldwide, no matter what Cox’s ads say in “The Journal” claiming thousands of blacks as members in Africa. It just isn’t true.

Cox apparently had to abandon the barristers in Canada in favor of lawyers in Spokane, Washington to continue his harassment of stalking people with whom he has issues for revealing what sort of con job he is.

These days though, everyone pretty much ignores him in spite of his hyperbole, particularly web hosts who have smartened up and don’t respond when he makes outrageous threats against them for hosting sites who tell the truth about him. He’s like a toothless old lion with lots of problems who still counts on his roaring to get attention while everyone goes on about their business as if nothing has happened (when, in fact, indeed, nothing has).

The displaced members made their own fellowship called the Assembly of Eloha, having all the same silly nonsensical belief system (with the de facto worship of Satan they believe will be saved at the Great White Throne Judgment) but without the excessive aggravation of the eccentric abusive Cox.

What is basically left of the ccg is a post office box in Australia and a website of some 300 or so articles of dubious distinction.

My personal assessment is that he is a total loser and isn’t worth my time, but I provide Silenced with the info as a courtesy to sate the curiosity of those who are looking for stimulation before moving on and forgetting the whole thing (in about 45 seconds time).

As I say, the info may not be up to the minute, but should render a snapshot useful for the curious.

By the way, I like what you’ve done with the place.

    Too many.

    Too big.

Q: About many members are in each COG group?

More than there will be when we get done with them.

    Too many.

Q: What are the largest to smallest COG groups?

Largest: The Ex-member church of God (not officially a church).
Next largest: The graveyard church of God
