There are a few COG-related entries in this series (Weinland and Armstrong). With Weinland’s prophecy at about the two-week warning is he about to become a triple or quadruple false prophet?

To some, it may seem shocking with all of the false and failed prophecies abounding throughout COG history that members don’t stop and reflect on the inaccuracies espoused by men they believe to be blessed with the Holy Spirit and a direct connection with God.

Then again, that sort of thing happens every day with COG ministers. Despite their “extra dose” of the Holy Spirit supposedly imbued upon them … More

Dr. Walter Martin, author of Kingdom of the Cults, goes down a list of what he considers several Christian cults. He gets to WCG around 5:45 and wrote about it in his book as well.

Edits have moved forward on many COG-related Wikipedia entries, this time focusing on the broadcast and publications of WCG.

The Plain Truth article has been tweaked for neutrality issues and a complete lack of citations, many of which we’ve now added. RCG had put links to David C. Pack’s literature at the bottom, and they have now been removed.

The 1975 in Prophecy! entry has also been cited with page numbers and seriously cleaned up.

In hilarious news, the COG’s memory and legacy is being further erased as Julian Assange’s new version of The World Tomorrow has completely supplanted WCG’s More

Banned by HWA! shared Herbert W. Armstrong’s letter of banishment to Roderick C. Meredith in 1980. The irony of many of HWA’s accusations against Spanky is oftentimes suffocating, but it makes for some entertaining reading. Interactions between COG leaders haven’t really changed much over the years. Just head over to Abigail Cartwright to see that.

These are two power hungry men with delusions of grandeur simultaneously existing on a planet not large enough for their egos. These kinds of family spats continue today, but more often lead to splits as ministers take all of their marbles and run home. HWA … More

WikiLeaks curator Julian Assange has a promo for his new show … The World Tomorrow. Of course, one of the first related videos is ol’ HWA blithering on his infamous show of the same name.

This should be interesting because Church of God Worldwide Ministries (COGWM) currently owns the naming rights to the show.

Assange’s broadcast launches April 17.

The difference between these two shows is vast. Assange’s show is supposedly about the truth. Armstrong’s was about lies. WikiLeaks and its supporters aided through social media in the toppling of Egyptian tyrant Hosni Mubarak. Armstrong had tea with him. … More

Check out a new post about life growing up in WCG on the blog “Dear God, What Now?” run by Andi Redwine. She wrote and produced the independent film Paradise Recovered, which will be released on April 24. The comments on the post are also interesting and full of people relating their COG experiences.

The leakage of people’s experiences in Armstrongism continues unabated. The cults can’t really control information anymore. Eventually, there will be so many similar and agreeing accounts of what the COG is, the damage it’s culture can and the truth about its goals that it will … More
